Safer Recruitment
From 1 January 2010 legislation makes the governing body responsible for ensuring that any staff interview or selection panel has at least one member of the panel trained in safer recruitment. The expectation is that at least the headteacher and one governor from every school have completed this training. Ofsted inspection judgements now include a statement on whether schools comply with this and other safeguarding requirements.
On-line Safer Recruitment training is provided by the Department for Education. The course is for people recruiting in the schools sector, previously accessed via the National College for Leadership of Schools and Children's Service (previously NCSL).
