Every Child Matters
|
The Department for Education (DfE) has recently made a key change in replacing the phrases of 'Every Child Matters' and the 'Five Outcomes' with 'help children achieve more'. Some in the children's sector fear that this change in language represents a gradual move away from the every Child Matters agenda whilst others are less concerned about the terminology used, so long as the emphasis remains committed to better outcomes for children. Nevertheless, we believe the concept and ethos of the Every Child Matters agenda is still relevant and that every child does matter. Consequently, this module will remain available to GEL subscribers. |
This module will help you to map your governors’ responsibilities against the five Every Child Matters outcomes.
-
It outlines the five outcomes of the Every Child Matters agenda
-
It gives guidance on governors’ roles and responsibilities
-
It tells you how the decisions that Governing Bodies take will affect schools’ contributions to the Every Child Matters agenda
You will need to have a notepad to hand as you will be asked to make notes for additional work, plus a highlighter and a copy of your school’s Self Evaluation, Headteacher’s Report and School Improvement Plan.
We suggest you allow approximately 45 minutes to work through the module and a further 15 minutes to complete the learning review.
