Section 4: Inspection of Church Schools
Ofsted inspects Church schools in the same way, and within the same time-scale, as other schools. Church schools also have a Section 48 inspection. The inspection evaluation processes differ quite considerably, with Section 48 inspections examining the religious aspects of the school much more closely. Ofsted inspections consider the extent of pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, and will evaluate:
-
pupils’ development of personal insight and purpose, and their understanding of society’s shared and agreed values, and
-
pupils’ development of skills and personal qualities necessary for living and working together, and their understanding of their own culture and those of others locally, regionally and nationally
