Help Children Achieve (Every Child Matters)

The Department for Education (DfE) has recently made a key change in replacing the phrases of ‘Every Child Matters’ and the ‘Five Outcomes’ with ‘help children achieve more’. Some in the children’s sector fear that thischange in language represents a gradual move away from the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda whilst others areless concerned about the terminology used, so long as the emphasis remains committed to better outcomesfor children. Nevertheless, we believe the concept and ethos of the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda is still relevantand that every child does matter. Consequently, this module will remain available to GEL subscribers.

This module will help you to map your governors’ responsibilities against the fi ve ‘Every Child Matters’ outcomes.

  • It outlines the five outcomes of the 'Every Child Matters' agenda

  • It gives guidance on governors' roles and responsibilities

  • It tells you how the decisions that Governing Bodies take will affect schools’ contributions to the 'EveryChild Matters' agenda
