Governance of a Church School

In 2011 approximately one million children attend Church schools. Governors of Church Schools need to know why their schools are different, and recognise the specifi c additional role they have.

This module will give you a better understanding of your responsibilities, and the reasons why they are important.

When you have completed it you will:

  • know more about the history and key characteristics of Church schools

  • have a better awareness of the Christian distinctiveness of Church schools

  • recognise the strategic responsibilities involved in Church school governance

  • understand the difference between Ofsted inspections and the Section 48 inspection process
