Looked After Children
This course has been designed to:
- give you an understanding of who is a “looked after” child;
- explain your governing body’s key roles and responsibilities with regard to Looked After Children;
- help you assess how effectively your governing body carries out its responsibilities.
It offers factual information on which to base your working practices, includes some video presentations and encourages you to consider what might work best for your school.
We recommend that all members of your governing body study this module. As governing bodies must act as a corporate body, the intention is that you share your learning with your fellow governors so together you arrive at the best solutions. You could also contact your local authority to arrange a facilitated session on “Looked After Children” for all the governors at your school.
We suggest you allow approximately 105 minutes to work through the module and a further 15 minutes to complete the learning review.
You might find it helpful to have a notebook and pen handy to jot down your thoughts as you work through this course.
