Roles and Responsibilities of School Governors

This module has been designed to help you to: 

• Understand the governing body’s key roles and responsibilities

• Consider how effectively your governing body carries out its responsibilities

• Review and record your governing body’s agreement on decision-making arrangements

It provides you with factual information on which to base your working practices and offers guidance in order to assess your effectiveness as a governing body in line with the Education Bill 2011.

As your governing body must act as a corporate body, we suggest you share your learning with your fellow governors so together you arrive at the best solutions. 

We suggest you allow approximately 90 minutes to work through the module and a further 15 minutes to complete the learning review.  

You will find it helpful to have a notebook and pen handy to jot down your thoughts as you work your way through this module.
