There are a number of ways school governors may access the full benefits of GEL.
Join as a Local Authority
To join as a Local Authority, contact Jacqueline McCamphill, Service Leader at jacqueline.mccamphill@elc-cambridge.org or telephone on 07811 112274, to discuss the next steps.
Join as a School Governor through your Local Authority
If your Local Authority subscribes to GEL directly, they will offer it to school governors in two ways, depending on the circumstances of the individual Local Authority:
- School governors may access it for free if their school buys into the Local Authority Governance service level agreement
- Some Local Authority’s provide free access to all schools regardless of schools buying into their governor support services

Check to see if your Local Authority is a GEL member – click on the Local Authority Members page.
If yes, then contact your Local Authority Governor Services team to confirm how they provide GEL to their schools.
If your LA confirms your school is eligible through them to access GEL for free, then click here to register for a permanent account.
The subscription fee to Local Authorities is £1.50 per governor.
Join as an Individual School Governing Body or Cluster of Schools
If your LA does not already subscribe to GEL, then as an individual school or cluster of schools, you may subscribe to GEL independently. We charge an individual school £150 for a year’s subscription, however discounts are offered to school clusters.
Our current promtional offer to schools is sign up before the end of March 2012 and receive 15 months membership for the price of 12 months.
